Managing the fabrication geometry for construction of modules in Australian and International fabrication yards. Ensuring structural components are constructed to design and within specific project engineering tolerances. Laser scanning, point cloud generation, 3D modelling and P&ID tagging of existing plant and infrastructure. Laser scanning allows fast, clean data capture of entire plant environments ensuring project timelines are met.Measuring contractors’ volumes and quantities to assist sign off of monthly claims. Accurate claim verification ensures construction milestone payments and quality control are achieved. Typically contract would be with EPCM. Primary and secondary control network establishment. Environmental disturbance boundary identification and all project site earthworks, road works, high precision civil concrete and near shore marine jetty works.Structural Steel - Handley Surveys are specialists in the execution of mechanical erection surveying. Highly experienced personnel offer a wealth of specialised skills assisting major contractors with the accurate assembly of steel structures to well within Australian Standards installation tolerances.Vessel Placement - Critical horizontal and vertical vessel surveys are a speciality of the Handley Surveys team. A thorough understanding of shimming requirements and adjustment of vessels to achieve timely installation can provide significant savings for project timelines. Pre and post landing surveys are conducted to ensure correct alignment and orientation of vessels relative to either flange faces or design cardinals.Equipment Alignment - High accuracy alignment of rotating turbines and static equipment is a fundamental operation within Handley Surveys. Equipment is surveyed using either high precision optical instruments or laser scanning to provide quality certification and conformance reports. The importance of this function cannot be underestimated as these components are integral to the function of most plants. DeformationSurveys - During installation of critical crane rails and other steel structures, Handley Surveys can provide high accuracy deformation surveys using high precision digital and machine levels. Pre and post measurements are obtained to provide load deformation and quality certification reports.Piping and FlangeSurveys - Be it Greenfields or Brownfields projects, Handley Surveys use refined techniques and computer aided 3D modelling to provide survey data for spool installation or maintenance. Deliverables range from full colour 3D models including measurable point clouds, annotated isometric drawings to tabulated co-ordinated point data.


Project Experience, track record

BHP South Flank SMP Contract - Clough contractor. RTIO Amrun SMP Contract - Civmec. CB&I Kentz JV - Gorgon ME&I Package 3 LNG trains makes the Gorgon project one of the world's largest LNG projects and the largest single resource natural gas project in Australia's history. Handley Surveys provided multiple teams exceeding 20 at times to CKJV for all mechanical surveying works on the project. The contract demanded the highest of accuracy to be achieved to ensure that first time fit for modules and connecting spooling for pre-fabricated modules by others go together perfectly.Woodside Burrup - Pluto Modular LNG Plant $13.2 billion Modular LNG Plant. Over 350 separate modules prefabricated in Laem Chebang, Thailand and assembled in Karratha, Western Australia. Handley Surveys provided multiple dimensional control surveyors for both operations. A specialised service was developed with the client's requirements as a sole priority. The Pluto project was the World's first completely modularised LNG gas plant.Pluto Project - The $13.2 billion Pluto project was the world’s first complete modular LNG processing facility. Owned and operated by Woodside it was scheduled for completion in 2011. The project comprised five subsea wells on the Pluto gas field connected to an offshore processing platform in 85m of water. Gas is now piped about 180km to the onshore plant. Onshore facilities at the Pluto LNG Park include a single LNG processing train, storage facilities and a product export jetty. The entire plant was built in modular form in Thailand and shipped as 264 individual modules. Handley Surveys have provided surveying services to both Prefabrication yards in Thailand and assembly site on the Burrup Peninsula, Australia. Handley Surveys have assisted contractors with all aspects of the construction process with contracts for auditing, dimension control, survey control, mechanical erection, tanks, and miscellaneous services.North West Shelf JV Phase V Project - The $3.4 billion Phase V project was the first modularised LNG train to be built offshore in Indonesia and shipped as individual modules to the assembly site on the existing North West Shelf JV site on the Burrup Peninsula. Handley Surveys provided dimension control surveyors to the fabrication site in Indonesia and assembly site in Australia. Successful alignment of the modules and overall success of the project has been attributed to Handley Surveys attention to detail and accurate work in both locations. Handley Surveys provided specialist surveyors to all aspects of the project, holding contracts with major contractors including Woodside, Foster Wheeler Worley, Chicago Bridge and Iron, Decmil, BGC, Wylie & Skene and Alliance Contracting.Burdekin Pipeline Project - The $220 million Burdekin pipeline project involved over 218km of underground pipeline from the Burdekin weir to Moranbah. Handley Surveys provided teams of surveyors to the project working with McConnell Dowell to construct the pipeline, 3 booster pump stations, 600ML storage tank and other associated infrastructure for the project. The project provided much needed water for the Bowen Basin mining activities during periods of lengthy drought. The pipeline was laid at record rates, with the entire 218km being installed in nine months. Civil works and pump stations followed that progress and the result was a highly successful project, the cost of which was extremely close to budget set almost two years previously.Burrup Fertilisers Project - The $700 million Burrup Fertiliser ammonia plant was the first downstream industrial development built on the Burrup Peninsula, other than major LNG facilities. The ammonia plant is the largest of its kind in the world, with a production capacity of 760,000 tonnes of liquid ammonia a year. Handley Surveys provided specialist surveying teams to all aspects of the construction phases including bulk earthworks, drill and blast, marine jetty construction, civil foundations, underground services, storage tanks, mechanical steel and vessel placement contracts.Parker Point Upgrade - The $5b Parker Point project transformed the single-berth port with single ship loader to a four-berth port with two ship loaders, new reclaimers, stackers, dumpers, screen houses and supporting overland conveyor systems. Handley Surveys involvement in the project was providing surveying services to major contractors on site including McMahon Contractors, Monadelphous, Ausclad Group of Companies and McConnell Dowell JV for the marine and jetty works.Ross River Ring Road Project - The Ross River project in Townsville was completed in 2005 and included a 5.3km, two lane roadway extension and high-level 250 metre long bridge crossing over the Ross River and Upper Ross River Road, as well as bridges over University Road, Discovery Drive and Angus Smith Drive. Handley Surveys provided specialist bridge surveyors to Belmadar Constructions for completion of the bridge and pavement works.North West Shelf JV Phase IV Project - The $5.2 billion Phase IV development at the North West Shelf JV operated by Woodside added an additional fourth LNG train to the already established three train operation. As part of the project an additional offshore feed gas line, shore crossing and trunk line terminal were all constructed utilising the services of Handley Surveys. The Phase IV project comprised the bulk earthworks for train IV and the future train V also.BP Australia Fuel Terminals Project - Handley Surveys have provided 3D Laser Scanning to BP Australia for their existing fuel terminal projects in Tom Price and Paraburdoo. The world’s fastest and most accurate laser scanning technology is used to create a full 3D model of the site for engineering and maintenance purposes. The use of the technology allows fast accurate data collection whilst the plant is in full operation.FWW Pluto Project - The use of sophisticated Laser Scanning technology allows high resolution data to be captured quickly in areas that have restricted access. Handley Surveys have utilised the laser scanning equipment on the Pluto LNG product loading jetty to accurately map loading arm clearance areas. 3D modelling has then been produced and illustrated frame by frame to provide suitable visualisation of part movements. Dampier Port Authority Expansion of heavy load out facilities at the Dampier Port Authority on the Burrup Peninsula required accurate 3D survey models to be generated to provide engineering data for the construction of a jetty gangway. The jetty gangway was to be constructed in the Netherlands and shipped to site for installation. Handley Surveys provided 3D Laser scanning services to generate accurate dimensions for the units design and installation.Pluto Project - Providing dimension control surveying services to fabrication yards internationally, Handley Surveys can ensure dimensional accuracy of module and vessel construction. Meeting project objectives of “First Time Fit” is the primary goal, increasing production quality and meeting tight construction and shipping deadlines. Experienced senior surveyors work closely with international fabrication contractors’ survey teams teaching techniques and sharing work methods to ensure quality standards are met. Project schedules are critical and are closely managed by Handley Surveys senior representatives. Handley Surveys utilise English speaking expatriate surveyors to facilitate clear communications between client, EPCM personnel and contractor’s surveyors at all times. Phase V Project - A move to modularised construction techniques for the fabrication of LNG trains called for accurate dimension control survey services. At the request of Woodside, Handley Surveys deployed expatriate surveyors to the fabrication site in Indonesia to provide dimension control surveyors to certify quality of dimensions of the modules being produced. Replicating techniques and equipment across both the fabrication and assembly sites ensured that no discrepancies were introduced to the survey data for the project.Wheatstone LNG Project - Selected by Bechtel to perform early works third party Auditing of other contractors, establish the primary control network for the site and perform various other developmental surveys for the project, Handley Surveys utilise a full Trimble project solution and employed approx.. 15 full time staff for this portion of the works.Pluto and Phase V Projects - Handley Surveys have provided audit contract services to Woodside through engineering, procurement and construction managers (EPCM) contractors Foster Wheeler Worley for the Pluto Project and the Phase V projects. The team of specialist surveyors conduct survey control and auditing services of other contractor’s surveyors and also provide licensed surveyors for consulting services. These teams of surveyors operate under direct supervision of the EPCM team and are independent to all other contracts.Rio Tinto Power Systems Upgrade - Specialist mapping services are offered by Handley Surveys for project planning and reconnaissance purposes. These services are conducted using high precision GNSS GPS, Total Stations, Laser Scanning, Aerial mapping and bathymetric survey equipment. Accurate data collection aids in the engineering and design phases of all projects and is instrumental in correct volume and pre work calculations. The Rio Tinto Power Systems Upgrade Project consisted of over 50km of existing infrastructure that required accurate mapping to facilitate design of the upgrade project.
