Pre Contracts Commercial Manager - UGL Rail Defence - Sydney - 9 Aug 2017

UGL Rail & Defence is currently seeking a Pre-Contract Commercial Manager to join the UGL Rail & Defence Team based in North Sydney.

The role of the Pre-Contract Commercial Manager is to support the development of commercial solutions for business growth opportunities that meet UGL’s risk versus return requirements whilst being commercially competitive from a customer perspective.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For allocated opportunities review head contract terms and conditions and: 
  1. assess compliance with UGL minimum acceptable terms and conditions, completing the required documentation for internal approval
  2. work with the relevant Bid Team Members to develop solutions to managing or mitigating issues and risk
  3. draft contract amendments to reflect the agreed commercial position
  • Prepare the commercial tender deliverables including drafting proposal letters, preparing compliance matrices and preparing and review pricing schedules.
  • Identify head contract flow down clauses that are relevant for pass through to subcontractors and prepare special conditions to standard contract templates for subcontracts or goods supply.
  • Provide support in obtaining and evaluate quotes from subcontractors/suppliers and engaging them in accordance with the approved bid strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Undergraduate degree in both finance and law (preferred)
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in a:
  1. mid-tier law firm or top tier accounting firm in consulting, corporate advisory, mergers and acquisitions or corporate finance; or 
  2. in a commercial role in a large corporate with an engineering or maintenance services focus.

DESIRABLE/PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
  • Commercial experience working on bids and tenders.
  • Must be customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven.
  • Must be energetic with a positive can do attitude.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure, process, information and/or technology.
  • Proficient skills in: MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
